Play Media Day 02.
Banja Luka is now on the Map!
OK, its always been on the map, since 1494 in fact, but it’s now firmly on the Digital Map.
The second edition of Play Media Day, an initiative of the city’s based Play Team Agency, has just finished.
After an extremely successful first event (almost boutique in size but packing a massive information punch) in 2016, this second outing has proved, beyond doubt, that Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina’s second largest city) is now leading the way as a home for the country’s Digital Community.
Play Team, lead by founders Dijana Tepšić, Tihana Tepšić and Bojan Dragišić, have spent the past six months preparing for an event that they hope will become a firm fixture in the Western Balkan’s media calendar.
Deciding on a venue (the city’s ancient castle) to host a state of the art 21st Century function, was an ambitious move.
Transforming very basic facilities, into a modern, delegate friendly environment, was a massive undertaking.
Play Media Day 02, saw some 500 delegates addressed over 3 unique stages, by 20 International, Regional and National subject matter experts, speaking about the widest variety of subjects of interest to the country’s aspiring “Digiratti”.
It’s a sad reality that Bosnia and Herzegovina (media wise), is still firmly entrenched in conservative traditional media practices and mentality.
Events like Play Media Day 02 offer both encouragement and stimulation to the “Young Turks” of this ever developing Digital Eco-System that we all need to accept and embrace.
It can only benefit both the country and the region.
“The term Young Turk, which originates from the same-named secular nationalist reform party of the early 20th century, is slang for a rebellious youth who acts contrary to what is deemed normal by society”.
As with almost everything in life, the unsung heroes very rarely get mentioned.
Behind the scenes, Dijana and her team had mustered some 40 young volunteers who, in realty, made this amazing event even more worthwhile, with their humour, friendliness and yes, their professionalism.
San Fran and Silicon Valley watch out, the Balkans are looking for your Crown!
